7 Nights

Florence
4 Nights

Rome
3 Nights

Note: The room prices given below are based on rooms that have the ability to cancel. If you choose a non-refundable price it would be lower. I don't recommend non-refundable because something could always happen and you wouldn't have the ability to cancel. The recommended hotels are listed in the order of my recommendations.

I realize you don't want to spend your entire budget on hotels but the hotels do make a difference in Italy. Some of the 3 star hotels have very small rooms (similar in size to our Texas closets) and the showers aren't large enough for a man to  stand in comfortably. It is also difficult to get a king-size bed in several of the Italian hotels.

I didn't recommend the entry level rooms but you could certainly opt for one of them. They will be small and staying for 3 and 4 nights it will be crowded. I think you will want a place you can relax and be comfortable. It is also nice to have a view.

There are many tours available. I've selected some of the more popular tours. We can always change out tours based on your specific interest. I've listed the price for a small group tour and also private tours to give you an idea of pricing options.

The Wilson's Italian Vacation

Your 7-day trip will begin with 4 days in Florence the heart of the Renaissance with its beautiful masterpieces and then you'll spend 3 days  in the Eternal City of Rome that has been a beacon of civilization across the Western World for more than two thousand years, a city to which all roads once led.  Italy is best experienced at a leisurely and relaxing pace. With 7 days in Italy, you'll have time to  visit both iconic and the off the beaten path gems.   If you prefer 3 days in Florence and 4 in Rome, I can make those changes.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - This is a lovely hotel in a former palace with only 12 rooms. The hotel is spacious and the perfect place to return to after a busy day of sightseeing in Florence. There is a beautiful rooftop deck with a bar to watch the sunset. The staff is amazing and the breakfast is not to be missed. Breakfast is served in one of their formal rooms and the buffet is set up beautifully including prosecco to add to your orange juice.  Eggs are cooked to order including eggs benedict. This hotel is a little more than other 3 star properties, however, it is worth it. I stayed in the "fresco suite" which is located next to the courtyard. It has a private terrace also and the room has a sitting area. The only drawback is to reach your room you walk through the courtyard. My guests that have stayed here have had nothing but compliments for the hotel, staff and location.

This is a  finely restored historic luxury accommodation near Ponte Vecchio -and regarded as one of the best addresses for anyone looking for the quintessentially Florence luxury hotel. Walk in one our twelve Florence suites and indulge in the warm atmosphere of Renaissance brought back to life.
Each Magnani Feroni suite is an inspiring adventure in the sophisticated elegance of the 16th century. Marble bathrooms, vintage original pieces of furniture, precious woods, sumptuous fabrics, baroque style mirrors and magnificent frescos will make you experience the most genuine Florence lifestyle.
The cozy and romantic ambience is masterfully balanced with cutting-edge features for business and leisure travelers alike, such as free Wi-Fi internet connection and satellite flat-screen TVs with international channels and SKY channels.

I have stayed at this hotel on three different trips as well as several of my clients. Eveyone loves the location and the rooftop views from the restaurant and bar.  There is a small lobby and an inner courtyard where breakfast is served. Historic ruins directly across the street.  The restaurant is very good as well.

Fortyseven is housed in a large, modernist-influenced building with sharp edges and no rounded corners that served as the seat of the capital for the Province of Rome until 2004; the property’s new incarnation looks fresh and modern.. The welcoming, creative ambiance of the venue is bolstered by its visual art, as each floor is decorated with a different artist from the 20th century, including Guccione and Modigliani. A major highpoint is the rooftop restaurant Circus, which is popular with both guests and locals and has sweeping views of ancient temples.

ROOM: The Fortyseven’s rooms, ranging from standard fare to suites, are spacious and feature wooden parquet floors, a neutral color scheme (white bedding, gray throws, light woods, and beige walls), and comfortable hypoallergenic mattresses. They are elegant and understated without feeling bare. The bathrooms have spacious walk-in showers with rain showerheads. Guests also get little amenities such as robes and slippers.

LOCATION: Built in a central location, the hotel is close to a number of popular monuments, including the Forum, the Bocca Della Verita, the Teatro Marcello, and Tiber Island. It's just a bit farther to other popular sights: The Colosseum and Pantheon, for example, are both a 15-minute walk away.

PAYMENT AND CITY TAX:  Paid to hotel in cash at time of departure - City tax is approximately 5 to 6 euros per person per day
GUARANTEE: Room to be held with a valid credit card

I have clients stay here and said it was centrally located and a nice place to stay. I personally have not stayed here before.  I've heard it could use a refresh as it is a bit tired. It is priced right for a hotel in the center of Rome. DOUBLE

The Hotel Quirinale is a large four-star hotel which is conveniently-located on a major shopping street not far from Rome's main railway station, Stazione Termini. It is a decent and comfortable place to stay and is popular with tour groups. The hotel is a decent and well-located place to stay, and convenient for travel connections.

ROOM: Charming rooms are large with high ceilings, wooden floors and antique furniture. The bathroom is well stocked and includs shampoo, conditioner, lotion, a hair dryer, large towels, two bathrobes,  and slippers.

LOCATION: The Hotel Quirinale is located on Via Nazionale, a wide and busy street on many bus routes. This a good place for shoppers, with lots of high street stores including some affordable and useful shoe shops. It is close to the Teatro dell'Opera, and many of Rome's sights, including the Vittoriano monument and the Forum and Colosseum area, are in walking distance.
